About
Using ideas and code from Thingdex, I got the first version of this site online after about six hours' work. I've probably spent an additional six hours since then making additions and improvements, and also adding photos myself.
The site has had some reasonable traffic, peaking at around 3,300 daily visitors. Many new images are submitted by the site's visitors each day.
Technical Details
It's a CakePHP job. Notable features include:
- User accounts.
- Account confirmation and password retrieval over email.
- Public uploading with thumbnailing and a moderation system.
- Image comments.
- Voting. Users can vote images up or down. When browsing, images can be sorted by popularity.
- Advertising. Google AdSense delivers targetted advertisements.
